Leah Peterson is a Senior Instructional Designer at the Office of Distance Education. She works primarily with the Metropolitan College’s Criminal Justice program, the Center for Professional Education’s Genealogical program, and the Sargent College Occupational Therapy program. Leah is interested in the ways that student and instructor interaction can be used beneficially in online learning and completed a case study on the topic of asynchronous discussion board use.

Prior to coming to Boston University, Leah worked for World Education, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to promoting individual and social change through education. Leah served in many roles within the U.S. division of World Education and was a founding member and later the director of an online professional development program serving educators working in adult basic education, English language instruction, and high school equivalency programs for adults. She was also the Assistant Director of the EdTech Center where she worked with projects such as the IDEAL Consortium, a membership for state-level adult education distance learning professionals.
