While college presents challenges for all students, the experience for first-gen students can be uniquely complex, often involving additional hurdles compared to peers with familial support and familiarity with college processes and systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>My decision to become a T1 Advocate is rooted in the profound impact of the support I received from dedicated staff during my academic journey. Recognizing the transformative role these connections played in my own success, I am driven to establish similar bonds with today&#8217;s students, ensuring that they too have access to the guidance and support necessary for their academic and personal growth. Aliyah attended Fairfield University in Connecticut for her bachelor\u2019s degree where she double majored in Chinese Studies &amp; Communication and minored in Philosophy. Aliyah is a current social-impact MBA candidate at BU\u2019s Questrom School of Business. Aliyah has traveled to 9 different countries and dozens of unique cities around the world. She has a special affinity for the African continent and China; where she lived, studied, and worked professionally for 3 years.
