The inaugural edition was then published in the spring of 2022. <i>Elevate<\/i> was founded, and is curated annually, by students, for students. We strive to uplift and, more than anything, \u201celevate\u201d the voices and identities of first-generation students at Boston University. Newbury Center Executive Director, Maria Erb, puts it best: \u201cby amplifying their voices through their pieces, the contributors are sharing hope and joy with their first-gen peers\u2026you will be moved by the incredible stories and perspectives of our beautifully diverse Terrier F1RSTS community\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Every fall, we hold mentoring meetings where faculty and staff volunteer their time to come together and hold space for students working on <i>Elevate<\/i> pieces. These pieces are then published the following spring, where the finalized edition is unveiled at an annual launch party. Contributors and supporters gather to meet, share more about their pieces, and celebrate the newest edition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>We are so thankful to everyone who made Elevate possible\u2013our contributors, our magazine mentors, and our incredible co-editors.
