{"id":117,"date":"2021-04-13T09:17:40","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T13:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/newbury-center\/?page_id=117"},"modified":"2026-06-12T14:46:25","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T18:46:25","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/newbury-center\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About the Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Newbury Center opened its doors in January 2021 with the goal of fostering the holistic success of first-generation students at Boston University\u2014students we refer to as \u201cTerrier F1RSTS.\u201d We aim to become a highly visible, transformative unit of the University, offering programming and services designed to ensure that first-generation students experience the same sense of well-being, belonging, self-efficacy, and academic accomplishment as their continuing-generation peers.
