Neurophotonics Technical Director of Microscopy

The BU Neurophotonics Center (NPC) and Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is recruiting a Technical Director of Microscopy who will have joint responsibilities in the NPC and BME with salary support from the University.  Fifty percent of his/her responsibility will be to engage in research activities with Neurophotonics Center faculty and their trainees and fifty percent will be to manage/maintain the BME Micro/Nano Imaging (MNI) core facilities.  It is expected that the individual will have a Ph. D. in Physics or related field and an extensive understanding and hands-on experience with a broad range of biomaging techniques applied to biological systems, particularly advanced optical microscopy techniques. In carrying out these responsibilities, he/she will engage in grant funded research activities, lead and collaborate in new grant proposals, supervise operations in the MNI core and Neurophotonics Center, train students and other personnel in the use of equipment, ensure equipment maintenance, establish proper operating procedures, purchase equipment and needed consumable supplies, monitor equipment use and provide oversight for safety compliance.

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with a desire to participate in a highly active neurophotonics community and help guide its future development and acquisition of advanced biomedical imaging tools.
