It is sponsored by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).<\/p>\n<p>The New England Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center Network was one of the original Model Centers, awarded this designation in 1973.\u00a0 During the 2011-2016 grant Cycle, NERSCIC is one of 14 Model System Centers across the United States working together to demonstrate improved care and outcomes, maintain a national database, participate in independent and collaborative research, and provide continuing education related to spinal cord injury.\u00a0 Read more about <b>SCI Model Systems Centers.\u00a0 The Model System database is the world&#8217;s largest and longest spinal cord injury research database.\u00a0 Findings resulting from database-oriented research have had significant impact on the delivery and nature of medical rehabilitation services provided to SCI patients.
