Luis’s research interests are in Bayesian and computational statistics, with emphasis on applications. Originally a transportation engineer, then a computer scientist, he is now a fulfilled statistician. He has collaborated extensively with colleagues from many diverse fields such as genomics, systems biology, political science, environmental science, and engineering. His main focus is on discrete inference with applications to model selection, latent, missing data and causal models, and discretely structured models such as network models.
