Before joining TAMU, she was a research scientist in KC Huang’s lab at Stanford University, where she investigated how gut bacteria and bacterial communities respond to nutrient perturbations. She received her PhD from the University of Edinburgh working in Sam Brown’s group, followed by a postdoc at the University of Washington in Ben Kerr’s lab. Her research focused on using mathematical models and computer simulations to understand how interactions between individual species shape microbial community function, spatial organization, and the emergence of microbial interdependencies. She then moved to Yale as a postdoc in Alvaro Sanchez lab, where she combined experiments and modeling to understand how microbial communities assemble in simple nutrient environments.

We are excited to announce we will be having Microbiome Day 2025 on Thursday, July 17!
