In the cursor prompt at the top of the screen, enter you search term, then press the <strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">F1\/Help<\/strong> key.<\/p>\n<p><em>Example:<\/em> <strong>Beta <span style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">F1\/Help<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt><strong>Email Bloomberg Help Desk<\/strong><\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>You can also email the Bloomberg Help Desk with any questions you have. Press the <strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">F1\/Help<\/strong> key twice to bring up the email window for the Bloomberg&#8217;s Help Desk. You will receive a response within 24 hours from the Bloomberg Help Desk.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt><strong>Bloomberg Professional Service<\/strong><\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>Type in <strong>BPS<\/strong>, then press the <strong><span style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Enter\/GO<\/span><\/strong> key to access the resource center for cheat sheets for many of the Bloomberg functions.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt><strong>Bloomberg University<\/strong><\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>Type in <strong>BU<\/strong>, then press the <strong><span style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Enter\/GO<\/span><\/strong> key to view upcoming seminars and events, view the latest enhancements, and access the Bloomberg resource center.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<hr\/>\n<h4>Bloomberg Keyboard Basics<\/h4>\n<p><img src=\"\/metit\/files\/2023\/10\/Bloomberg_Keyboard_Map.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The way to navigate on Bloomberg is to use its menu keys in combination with command-based shortcuts.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">GREEN KEYS<\/strong> are <strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">ACTION<\/strong> keys.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Enter\/GO<\/strong> &#8211; used as a standard return or enter key on a normal keyboard would be used.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">F1\/Help<\/strong> &#8211; used for searching Bloomberg Help or for opening up the Bloomberg Help Desk email window.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Menu<\/strong> &#8211; used to navigate from any function back to a menu of related functions.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Pg Up\/Pg Down<\/strong> &#8211; used to navigate through pages of data, or to see the data used to create a chart.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">End\/Back<\/strong> &#8211; used to take you back to the previous screen.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Print<\/strong> &#8211; used to print a single page. To print multiple pages, type the number of pages to print, then press the <strong style=\"background-color: #008000; color: #ffffff;\">Print<\/strong> key.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">YELLOW KEYS<\/strong> are <strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">MARKET SECTOR<\/strong> keys.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F2\/Govt<\/strong> &#8211; Displays a list of bonds that match a ticker symbol, coupon, and\/or maturity that you select, e.g., international and US Government bonds (such as T bonds).<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F3\/Corp<\/strong> &#8211; Corporate debt, corporate bond prices, and yields by company may be found with this function.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F4\/Mtge<\/strong> &#8211; The Mortgage menu includes information about pools and generics.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F5\/M-Mkt<\/strong> &#8211; Money Markets includes programs which are records containing specific issue information. Money markets are for borrowing and lending money for three years or less. The securities in a money market can be US government bonds, Treasury Bills, and commercial paper from banks and companies.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F6\/Muni<\/strong> &#8211; The Municipal markets menu contains info about bonds issued by municipalities in the US.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F7\/Pfd<\/strong> &#8211; Preferred pre-markets covers both public and private securities offered by countries (US &amp; UK) mostly. Types include fixed-rate issues, zero coupon issues, floating-rate notes, variable-rate issues, convertibles, and warranties.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F8\/Equity<\/strong> &#8211; Displays actual trades and information about US and global stocks (listed and Over The Counter\/OTC). US equity data goes back to 1980.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F9\/Comdty<\/strong> &#8211; The Commodity menu has all exchange-listed futures and options contracts of underlying financial and physical products, i.e., gold, wheat, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F10\/Index<\/strong> &#8211; All Indicative and\/or statistical data and market monitor functions are grouped here under specific categories. Two main sections include markets and leading economic indicators.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">F11\/Curncy<\/strong> &#8211; Current markets\/monitors for global currencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other important keys:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Panel<\/strong> &#8211; Toggles between the two most recently used of the 4 Bloomberg screens that appear when you log in.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ESC\/Cancel<\/strong> &#8211; Used to cancel the current function.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Log Off<\/strong> &#8211; Press once to log on using your name\/password.
