What is going wrong?

If you are currently using the BU IS&T provided Microsoft Office 2016 package, you will run into this conflict. This is due to the fact that the licenses used to distribute the Microsoft Office 2016 package and the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching products are incompatible. Please try one of the following methods:

Install Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 instead of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016. Once the installation is complete, install Visio/Professional 2016 again.

Use the VMWare Software and the Microsoft Windows 10 to create a virtual desktop. Once the virtual desktop is created, you can then install the Visio/Project products.

Use our Virtual Labs, which comes installed with all the necessary software for the Metropolitan College classroom, including Microsoft Visio & Project.

Why can't I install the program I want via the .iso file I downloaded?

ISO files are complete images of physical media (CDs/DVDs) that contain all the files and folders in a particular package. To install software packages from this type of image file, the image must first be "mounted" by the Operating System. You can accomplish this several different ways:

Windows 8 and 10: Right-click the ISO file, choose "Open With..." and pick "Windows Explorer" from the list. It should then mount the ISO image for you and show its contents (files/folders) as if you have a DVD.

Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7: (Still figuring out)

Other installation options:

Burning the image directly to a USB drive. This is particularly useful for those people who have Netbooks or other computers without a writable DVD drive. You can do this through the installation of ISO-to-USB software. (Suggestions still under development)

Burning the image directly to DVD, making sure to specify the source type as "image". Once the burning of the image is complete, the physical media can be inserted into the computer and will be recognized like any other DVD. You must have a writable DVD drive to do this. (Software suggestions still under development)

Once you have successfully mounted your image, you can then launch the software installation.

For an installation using bootable media you created, you need to restart the computer and boot from the USB or DVD.

For an executable installation, you need to launch the application from the mounted image.

Support

Our IT department offers the following support for Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching:

Assistance with account setup and software access

Guidance on integrating Azure services into curricula

Technical support for installation and troubleshooting

Workshops and webinars for faculty and students

Access to learning resources and documentation

Resources

Access Control

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Visio

Microsoft Windows

Azure Documentation

Azure for Education

Requesting Access

To request access to Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching, please contact us with the following information:

Your name and institutional email address

The course or project you are involved in

The specific software or services you require

Our IT team will review your request and provide access details once approved.
