{"id":6578,"date":"2024-04-09T10:28:16","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T14:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/metit\/?page_id=6578"},"modified":"2025-07-16T11:17:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T15:17:18","slug":"dropbox","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/metit\/services\/storage\/dropbox\/","title":{"rendered":"Dropbox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BU Dropbox is an ideal storage solution for researchers who regularly share data with those outside of BU.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h4>Support Policy<\/h4>\n<p>MET IT is responsible for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Escalating license requests to BU IS&#038;T<\/li>\n<li>Installation of Dropbox Desktop app on BU-provisioned devices<\/li>\n<li>Discussing storage alternatives for accounts exceeding quota<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BU IS&amp;T is responsible for provisioning licenses; MET IT will escalate account issues that may be caused by licensing problems to BU IS&amp;T on the user&#8217;s behalf.<\/p>\n<p>Users may save files that have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/policies\/data-classification-policy\/\">Data Classification<\/a> of &#8220;Restricted&#8221; and lower.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dt><strong>Storage Quotas<\/strong><\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>250 GB of Dropbox Storage is available to Faculty and Staff at no cost.<br \/>150 GB of Dropbox Storage is available to students with sponsorship from Faculty or Staff at no cost.<br \/>Additional storage can be purchased at a prorated yearly fee.
