Prior to this, he served as a faculty member at the City University of New York and has lectured at Albertus Magnus College, Marist College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Roger Williams University, where he taught various courses in business strategy, supply chain management, business organization, and international business. Mayer\u2019s career spans many of the practice areas within global supply chain and business strategy management, including leading supply chain organizations within highly regulated industries such as aerospace, biotechnology, chemicals, and consumer packaged goods, where regulatory issues include product safety and security. He has held various positions in product distribution, business logistics, and global sourcing at Unilever and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., as well as C-level positions in global supply chain and business strategy with PAS Technologies, Inc., Chemtura Corporation, Key MRO America, Inc. (IBM), LONZA Biologics, and The Hartford. Mayer brings to his courses relevant, real-world examples from business strategy and planning; contracts and negotiations; operational improvement; supply chain management; acquisitions and mergers; purchasing and payables; analytics; costing and pricing; grants and proposals; logistics management; coaching and mentoring; and international trade. Mayer is also a lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and a founding director of the Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM) services industry group, where he led the initial development of the group. He has been a Lean Six Sigma coach for large, publicly traded organizations, conducting training for Blackbelt practitioners within the pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and other industries. As an executive advisor and coach, Mayer conducts supply chain strategy evaluations and provides expert testimony in highly visible and publicized contractual disputes.
