Santiago<\/a>, and Assistant Professor of Applied Social Sciences <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/profile\/yesim-sungu-eryilmaz\/\">Ye\u015fim Sungu-Eryilmaz<\/a> have each been named 2024 Faculty Research Fellows by BU\u2019s Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship award will fund a unique, interdisciplinary research effort that the three BU MET professors will conduct over one-to-two years; a project titled, \u201cWhat Lies Beyond Built Infrastructure? Trauma-informed Planning (TIP) in Municipal and Regional Climate Recovery and Resilience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As climate change has an increasing impact on urban areas worldwide, the damage extends beyond economic and material considerations\u2014it also stands to take a toll on mental and physiological health. With this fellowship, Professors Rousseau, Santiago, and Sungu-Eryilmaz will examine areas recently impacted by extreme weather events to see to what extent those regions\u2019 existing municipal recovery and resilience plans have integrated trauma-informed principles.
