Since becoming one of the first universities to open all its divisions to women, in 1867, Boston University has remained dedicated to its founding principles: that higher education should be accessible to all and that research, scholarship, artistic creation, and professional practice should be conducted in the service of the wider community\u2014local and international. These principles endure in the University\u2019s insistence on the value of diversity, in its tradition and standards of excellence, and in its dynamic engagement with the City of Boston and the world.<\/p>\n

Metropolitan College was created in 1965 to extend the values and intellectual opportunities of BU to the broader community. Dedicated to empowerment and advancement via education\u2014no matter a person\u2019s age, gender identity, nationality, or experience\u2014BU MET strives to ensure that all students, faculty, and staff feel welcome and fully participatory.<\/p>\n
