The Evening Faculty permit allows you to park after 2:30 pm in any lot except lots A, C-1, C-2, L, N, O, R, and S. Please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.bu.edu\/?id=647#!s\/lot?ct\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston University Maps<\/a> for a map of campus parking lots.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to apply for a permit online through the <a href=\"https:\/\/bu.aimsparking.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transportation Management Portal<\/a>. If all of your classes are being held after 4 pm on weekdays and\/or during the weekend, you will see the free Evening Faculty parking permit as an option on the portal. Parking permits are completely virtual and based on each permit holder\u2019s license plate number.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What if I want to park during the day?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Employee FLEX Permit<\/strong> (formerly the red permit) is useful for faculty that need to come to campus and park during the day, but don\u2019t plan to be here every day. Flex permit holders are only charged for the days they come to campus and park.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Employee COMMUTER Permit<\/strong> (formerly the green permit) is for daily use and has a monthly fee attached to it.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty should apply for a permit online through the <a href=\"https:\/\/bu.aimsparking.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transportation Management Portal<\/a>. How do I get one?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>If you need a projector for just one or a few classes, please submit a form through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/teaching\/classroom\/\">Classroom Technology &amp; Support<\/a> website at least three days in advance of your class.<\/p>\n<p>If you need a projector every night, <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/contact-us\/\">contact the MET Dean\u2019s office<\/a> to request a <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/faculty-resources\/classroom-resources\/#classchange\">room change<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">When do instructors without an office normally hold office hours?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Many instructors hold office hours in the classroom either before or after class. In certain situations rooms can be booked for special meetings or study sessions. If an additional space is needed <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/contact-us\/\">contact the MET Dean\u2019s office.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do most instructors give breaks during a three hour class?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Many instructors give a ten minute break in the middle of the class, but it is up to you to decide if you want to give a short break during the class.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I didn\u2019t receive my check this month. After verification you can access the Employee Self Service tab in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ppo.buw.bu.edu\/\">BUworks Portal<\/a> to fill out additional payroll information and to set up direct deposit.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>If you are a returning faculty member:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>If you have taught within the past 18 months, you should not have to update your W4 and direct deposit unless any of your information has changed.<\/p>\n<p>If you have not taught for Metropolitan College within the past 18 months, please visit the Employee Self Service tab in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ppo.buw.bu.edu\/\">BUworks Portal<\/a> to verify that your payroll information is correct.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do I enter my grades online?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Please view these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/files\/2011\/12\/instructions-for-webgrading.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">step-by-step instructions<\/a> for help on how to submit your grades online. You can also follow along with a series of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/files\/2011\/12\/webgrading-step-by-step.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">screen shots<\/a>. For a breakdown of acceptable grades, please view these <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/faculty-resources\/administrative-procedures\/grading\/\">grading guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All grades should be submitted online through the WebGrade system, which requires your <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/faculty-resources\/bu-login-and-email-account\/\">Kerberos login<\/a>. If you do not have a Kerberos login, please visit the IT Help Center in person at <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.bu.edu\/?id=647#!m\/288657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">179 Amory Street<\/a> (West Campus) or <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.bu.edu\/?id=647#!m\/288889\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">771 Commonwealth Avenue (Mugar Memorial Library)<\/a> to set up your username and password. Fill it out completely, including all course information and the reason for the change, and return it to the Dean\u2019s office. What do I do?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Room changes will only be granted based on the number of enrolled students and the specific needs of the course. No room changes will be made after the third week of classes. If you would like to request a room change, please contact the Staff Coordinators in the <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/contact-us\/\">MET Dean\u2019s office <\/a>at 617-353-3000. Who do I call?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>If you have a problem with the heating, ventilation, or AC unit in your classroom, you need to call the Facilities Management &amp; Planning emergency number at 617-353-2105. Be sure to give them the address of the building and your room number.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">I suddenly have an extra student in my class in a \u201cJ1\u201d section. What is this?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Students enrolled in the J1 section of your course are Alumni Audit students. These students are all alumni of the University and are therefore entitled to audit any undergraduate MET course with the instructor\u2019s permission. These students are added after the third week of the semester, which is why the extra section appears late. What should I do?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>This student should receive an <a href=\"\/met\/for-faculty-staff\/faculty-resources\/administrative-procedures\/grading\/#mg\">\u201cMG\u201d grade<\/a>.
