While private loans may have higher interest rates, they are an alternative for students otherwise ineligible for federal student loans, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>non-degree students<\/li>\n<li>students taking prerequisite courses<\/li>\n<li>graduate certificate students<\/li>\n<li>students enrolled in fewer than 6 units per semester<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/how-aid-works\/types-of-aid\/loans\/credit-based-loans\/international\/\">international students<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Boston University\u2019s Financial Assistance office provides complete information regarding private loan financing options on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/finaid\/graduate-students\/credit-based-loans\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Credit-Based Loans<\/a> page for students in graduate and professional degree programs.
