MET Cybercrime Director Pens New Book on Statistics in Criminology

Kyung-shick Choi - MET Cybercrime Director Pens New Book on Statistics in Criminology

As director of MET’s Cybercrime Investigation & Cybersecurity (CIC) programs, Professor of the Practice Dr. Kyung-shick Choi is deeply ensconced in the manners in which human behavior and technology interact with criminal justice systems. Now, the cybercriminology expert has unlocked new means of quantifying those interactions.

Dr. Choi’s new book, The Foundations of Statistics in Criminology and Criminal Justice, explores the purpose and role of statistics in law enforcement, emphasizing analytical techniques and providing insight into the roles of both descriptive and inferential statistics. Co-authored by the University of Alabama’s Dr. Hyeyoung Lim, the text is meant to help students build their foundation in analytical methods within the context of criminal justice—the same skills developed at the core of MET’s Crime Analysis programs.
