Securing Forbes’s Honor Another Goal Met for CIS Alum Sean Donnelly
Being named to Forbes magazine’s prestigious “30 Under 30” list of industrialists on the rise wasn’t just an honor for Resolvn founder Sean Donnelly (MET’18); it was an ambition.
For the successes of the modular cybersecurity training firm he launched the year he graduated, Donnelly, 29, has been recognized as one of 2021’s 600 “brightest young entrepreneurs, leaders, and stars.” It’s a prize he’d long had his sights on.
“It seems silly in the grand scheme of things, but it’s been a personal goal of mine for a few years,” Donnelly told Bostonia. “This was the last year I was eligible, so I was relieved.”
A stint with the Navy revealed to Donnelly the growing digital threats all industries are facing, and the critical need for accessible, technical training in cybersecurity. So, he crafted a business to help meet that challenge, providing clients with guided instruction to detect and respond to cyber threats.
“We’re a cybersecurity research company that leverages our talent to build education and training products,” he says. “Any organization using our library to train cyber-work roles has access to hundreds of hours of hands-on material.”
Today, Donnelly and his team have secured nearly $11 million in client contracts, primarily US government agencies. One of five Boston University alumni to make Forbes’s 2021 list, Donnelly earned his Master of Science in Computer Information Systems at BU MET.
