Reviews basic concepts in nutrition including the function of nutrients and the effects of deficiencies and excesses. These basic concepts are then applied to current issues throughout the lifecycle including the role of diet in malnutrition, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and weight management. Dietary guidelines for prevention of chronic disease are stressed.  [ 4 cr. ]
