Julie Nguyen, EdD
Director of Student Career Development 

Dr. Nguyen has more than 15 years of experience in higher education, spanning admissions, academic advising, experiential learning, and career services. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles; a Master of Arts in Higher and Postsecondary Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University; and a Doctor of Education degree from Northeastern University.

Dr. Nguyen is dedicated to guiding students and alumni toward their career aspirations. Her approach is characterized by curiosity and collaboration, empowering individuals to confidently navigate their career paths.

She champions lifelong learning and encourages embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Nguyen is exploring puppetry and aspires to perform a children’s puppet show in the future.

Emily Shawn
Student Success Advisor 

Emily Shawn holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and religion from Boston University, a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Salem State University, and a master’s degree in gastronomy from Boston University Metropolitan College. Her professional work has included teaching English both abroad and in the United States, teaching yoga and meditation, and working to support students on their educational journeys at Metropolitan College. She values every opportunity to learn something new and to support students in their educational and career goals.
