Dropping a Course

To drop a course or courses, visit the MyBU Student Portal. If you are unable to drop your course on the MyBU Student Portal, you must submit the Add/Drop Form. Upon receipt of this form, the Office of the University Registrar will adjust your account according to the refund policy below. Please be aware that the add/drop deadlines as noted on MET’s academic calendars may differ from the refund dates listed below.

Spring 2024 On-Campus Course Drop/Withdrawal Refund Policy Dates*
January 17, 2024 100% of tuition and fees
January 31, 2024 100% of tuition only
February 7, 2024 50% of tuition only
February 22, 2024 Last day to drop CRC courses without a W
Spring 2024 Online Course Drop/Withdrawal Refund Policy Dates*
January 16, 2024 100% tuition and fees for Spring O1 and Spring 15 week term
January 23, 2024 Last day to drop online courses in the Spring O1 term for 100% tuition only refund and without a W
January 30, 2024 Last day to drop online courses in the Spring 15 week term for 100% tuition only refund and without a W
February 15, 2024 Last Day to drop with a W for Spring O1

*Applies to most MET students dropping any standard course or withdrawing from the semester. Those enrolled in online courses should visit the BU Online Learning site to download the “important dates PDF,” which indicates the last day for a tuition refund.

Withdrawing From All Courses

To withdraw from all of your courses, you must complete the Withdrawal/Leave of Absence Form (you can also download the form) and submit it to:

Financial Aid Recipients

The policies above are academic and related only to tuition refunds. Separate regulations govern federal student loans and may require BU to reduce or cancel a previously disbursed loan when your enrollment changes.
