Giulio Aleni S.J., 1582-1649. Geografia, arte, scienza, religione dall\u2019Europa alla Cina,<\/em> (One Heaven. Giulio Aleni S.J. (1582-1649). Geography, art, science, religion from Europe to China, Brescia, Grafo Edizioni, 1994); and <em>Ancestors, Virgins, and Friars: Christianity as a Local Religion in Late Imperial China<\/em> (Harvard Asia Center Publication Programs and Harvard University Press, 2009), recipient of the 2011 Joseph Levenson Book Prize in Chinese Studies His current book project is an examination of the daily life and political networking of European residents at the Qing court in Beijing during the 17th-18th centuries.<\/p>\n<p>Menegon has been Research Fellow in Chinese Studies at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Junior and Senior Fellow at the BU Humanities Foundation, and An Wang Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, Harvard University. He has held appointments as visiting scholar at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Beijing), the Beijing Center for Chinese Studies, the Ricci Institute at the University of San Francisco, the University \u201cL\u2019Orientale\u201d in Naples, the University of Padua, and the Cini Foundation, Venice. \u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">He was Director of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/asian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">BU Center for the Study of Asia (BUCSA)<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u00a0in 2012-15, and<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0co-organized the research group \u201cLeisure and Social Change across Asia\u201d under the auspices of the BU Humanities Foundation, and the interdepartmental \u201cEurasian Court Cultures Workgroup\u201d at Boston University. He is currently a member of the BU Travel\u00a0Literature Reading Group.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>His teaching passions are the history of late imperial and modern China, the toolkit of the historian\u2019s craft, and the exploration of intercultural relations in pre-modern times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the\u00a0<b>academic year 2015-16<\/b>, he was\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">on research leave to work\u00a0on his current book project as a member of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs.ias.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s3\">School of Historical Study, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(<b>Fall 2015<\/b>) and as Senior Fellow at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bc.edu\/centers\/iajs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s3\">Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies at Boston College\u00a0<\/span><\/a>(<b>Spring 2016<\/b>).
