Schaus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Research in the Schaus Group is focused in two major areas: enantioselective catalytic synthetic methodologies for chemical synthesis and biomedical research, the latter conducted at the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/cmd.bu.edu\/\">Boston University Center for Molecular Discovery<\/a>. Catalytic methods developed in the Schaus Research Laboratories include asymmetric Mannich reactions, enantioselective boronate reactions, and metal-promoted condensation reactions.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"singlespace\">\n<li><strong>Asymmetric Mannich Reactions<\/strong><em><strong><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em>\u2013 The use of cinchona amine, acid, and diol catalysis in the synthesis of chiral amines and heterocycles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enantioselective Boronate Catalysis<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 The development of methodologies to construct chiral building blocks and natural products using boronates.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Biomedical Research<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 In conjunction with the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"CMLD-BU homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/cmld.bu.edu\/\">CMD-BU<\/a>, advance translational science in the treatment of cancer and infectious disease.<em><strong><\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hepatocellular Carcinoma<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<span>\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"liver cancer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/2012\/taking-on-cancer-tackling-liver-cancer-in-the-lab\/\">Taking on liver cancer in the lab<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Neglected Tropical Disease<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<span>\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"tropical disease\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/2013\/bu-researchers-work-against-deadly-disfiguring-disease\/\">BU Researchers Work against Deadly, Disfiguring Disease<\/a>.
