{"id":12100,"date":"2026-06-30T15:57:42","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T19:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/math\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=12100"},"modified":"2026-07-14T14:12:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T18:12:12","slug":"indrajit-kalita","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/math\/profile\/indrajit-kalita\/","title":{"rendered":"Indrajit Kalita"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"elementToProof\"><b>Dr. Indrajit Kalita<\/b>\u00a0joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Boston University as a Research Assistant Professor on August 1, 2026, where he&#8217;s part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buformes.github.io\/\" id=\"OWA7445d4c1-7188-7dad-af5e-79a4144b67e6\" class=\"underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/buformes.github.io\/\" data-outlook-id=\"ef70283f-d272-4d2e-bd14-08187edf736e\">FORMES research group<\/a>\u00a0led by Prof. Yves Atchad\u00e9.<br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Before this, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Boston University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cds-faculty\/\" id=\"OWAc36f11ee-e6e9-3d81-a8ea-2cf18f8d0823\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cds-faculty\/\" data-outlook-id=\"50bd0ea8-4e9a-4fc2-81d4-631af4d8a9a6\">Faculty of Computing &amp; Data Sciences (CDS),<\/a>\u00a0working on weather forecasting using deep learning and Bayesian machine learning. He also works on Explainable AI (XAI) and Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), which are about making machine learning models easier to understand and trust.<br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Earlier, he was a Research Associate at the <a href=\"https:\/\/cyens.org.cy\/\" id=\"OWA3aeb5c00-4692-7060-e954-1bdd5974b301\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/cyens.org.cy\/\" data-outlook-id=\"78a04c41-7f0a-4c99-9c5a-0d4222647f75\">CYENS Centre of Excellence<\/a>\u00a0in Cyprus, where he studied Earth system dynamics and climate change using remote sensing and deep learning.
