Our Department, BU, and external agencies recognize student achievement in a variety of ways.<\/p>\n
Internal\/External Funding Guide<\/a><\/p>\n BU offers a variety of Fellowships<\/a> to incoming PhD students, including the BU Dean’s Fellowship, funded by the Dean of the BU Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n There are also a number of external fellowships available to our students as well, including the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship<\/a>, the Hertz Fellowship<\/a>, the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship<\/a>, the Jane Street Graduate Research Fellowship<\/a>, the Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program,<\/a> and the Simons Dissertation Fellowship in Mathematics.<\/a><\/p>\n BU also offers the Lu Lingzi Scholarship<\/a>, in honor of Lu Lingzi, a Master’s student in Statistics whose life life was tragically cut short by the Boston Marathon bombing attack. This scholarship supports international students pursuing a Master’s degree at BU.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n Together with the BU Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, each year one we give out two Outstanding Teaching Fellow awards to recognize the contributions of PhD student teaching fellows.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides Departmental Travel Grants<\/a> to a limited number of graduate students each year to support travel to, and participation in, conferences and workshops.
