Appointments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the \u2018New Appointment\u2019 button.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select \u2018CAS UGRD Math &amp; First years and transfer students may have an advising hold on their account which will be posted on your My BU Student account under holds. If you do please plan to meet with your advisor before registration time to have the hold removed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this time no other years have advising holds from the math and stats department but please review our registration emails (sent out before registration each semester from <\/span><a href=\"mailto:mathadvising@bu.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mathadvising@bu.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to see if this changes in the future as we adjust to the new My BU system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advising codes are no longer used in the new My BU System. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Dual Degree, Double Major and Joint Degree Advising<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are completing a dual degree (i.e. one major in CAS and one in another BU school or college) you will be assigned to an academic advisor in our department. Advisors are typically able to answer questions pertaining only to their specific department or program, so we recommend that you contact the appropriate advisor based on the topic of your question. Your academic advisor must sign off on your application for a dual degree with a mathematics\/statistics major and can be reached through the department email <\/span><a href=\"mailto:mathadvising@bu.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mathadvising@bu.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are pursuing a joint degree (e.g. in Mathematics and Computer Science) or a double major you will be assigned an advisor based on your academic year and an advisor in their joint\/additional major program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">CAS Advising<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/current-students\/undergraduate\/casadvising\/\">CAS Advising<\/a> can help you <span>regarding general BU or CAS policies that are not specific to any particular department or program. For example, they can answer questions regarding the BU Hub, graduation requirements, and external credit and transfer course evaluations. <\/span><span>You can contact CAS advising using <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/current-students\/undergraduate\/casadvising\/contact-and-staff\/\"><span>this form<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Making the most of your advising meeting<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It helps to keep in mind that advising in an active process; the more you put in yourself the more you get out of it. Try to come prepared to any advising meetings having thought in advance about your goals, interests, and priorities. Consider doing research on your own into any questions you may have in order to more efficiently use your time during your meeting.
