Founded in 1968, the UAM is widely considered to be one of the premier universities in Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>The program consists of four classes <\/strong>(4.0 US credits each)<strong>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Seminar on Contemporary Spain\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span>The seminar provides context for other academic and cultural experiences, and a rich awareness and understanding of Spain\u2019s history, as well as a sense of community among BU program students. It is taught by a BU Madrid instuctor at the Instituto Internacional.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Hub Areas:<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Global Citizenship and Intercultural Literacy, Writing Intensive + Critical Thinking<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><strong>Three elective courses<\/strong> from a wide variety of subjects across the UAM&#8217;s seven <em>facultades<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>(schools):<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Facultad de Filosof\u00eda y Letras<\/em> (humanities)<\/li>\n<li><em>Facultad de Ciencias Econ\u00f3micas y Empresariales<\/em> (econ, business)<\/li>\n<li><em>Facultad de Facultad de Formaci\u00f3n de <\/em><span><em>Profesorado y Educaci\u00f3n<\/em> (education)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><em>Facultad de Psicolog\u00eda<\/em> (psychology)<\/li>\n<li><em>Facultad de Derecho<\/em> (law, political science)<\/li>\n<li><em>Facultad de Ciencias<\/em> (science)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students may also opt to take the Seminar, two electives at the UAM, as well as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/madrid\/academic-programs\/internship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">internship<\/a>. They must apply for the <strong>University Studies Internship program.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Courses are offered in areas including anthropology, archaeology, art history, cinema, economics, business, philosophy, political science, psychology, science, sociology, as well as Spanish culture, language, literature and history. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>*Students who choose the <strong>Derecho<\/strong> (law) facultad should only choose classes within the <strong>Political Science<\/strong> department; they cannot take law-school level classes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>**There is a new (!) department in the Economics\/Business facultad, <strong>Business Analytics<\/strong> (An\u00e1lisis de Datos en la Empresa). No course enrollment is required.
