He has also held university management positions in the past, including the presidency of APUNE (Association of North American University Programs in Spain). Vela has published texts in various conferences and professional magazines, in addition to writing two books on Salvador Dal\u00ed and Luis Bu\u00f1uel. The latest book he has published is titled<em> Detectives melanc\u00f3licos. <\/em><em>El cine de Alberto Rodr\u00edguez en el contexto del neo noir actual<\/em>.
