This includes travel to the <\/span>Canary Islands<\/span><\/strong> and the <\/span>Balearic Islands<\/span><\/strong>, as well as travel within mainland Spain, including on <\/span>high-speed trains (AVE)<\/span><\/strong> and other forms of transportation.<\/span><\/p>\n For U.S. citizens studying in Spain, the <\/span>U.S. passport is your primary and valid form of identification while in Europe<\/span><\/strong>. Transportation providers and authorities may request official identification when boarding transportation or during security checks.<\/span><\/p>\n Students who travel without their passport may face the following issues:<\/span><\/p>\n Being <\/span>denied boarding<\/span><\/strong> on transportation such as buses, trains, or airplanes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Being <\/span>unable to pass security checks<\/span><\/strong> at ports or airports<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Being <\/span>denied re-entry to mainland Spain (the peninsula)<\/span><\/strong> when returning from the Canary Islands or Balearic Islands<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n To avoid travel disruptions, students should <\/span>carry their passport with them at all times when traveling<\/span><\/strong>, even for domestic trips within Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n We strongly recommend keeping your passport <\/span>secure and protected<\/span><\/strong> during travel and considering carrying a <\/span>photocopy or digital copy stored separately<\/span><\/strong> as a backup. <\/span><\/p>\n By\u00a0<\/strong>Taxi<\/a><\/p>\n Madrid airport has of several public taxi stops, distributed over all airport terminals.\u00a0The price for a taxi ride from the Barajas airport to the centre of Madrid is a flat rate 33\u20ac one way, as <\/span>taxi Tariff 4<\/strong>. The luggage is included for any tariffs which apply. Taxi apps<\/em> such as Cabify, Uber, FREE NOW can also be used.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n By <\/strong>Metro<\/a><\/p>\n Metro Line <\/strong>8 goes from<\/span>\u00a0Nuevos Ministerios (in Madrid) to the airport. The line has two metro stations at the airport (Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3, and Aeropuerto T4).<\/span><\/p>\n By <\/strong>Train<\/a>\u00a0(Cercan\u00edas)<\/p>\n The Cercanias station is in Terminal T4 floor -1, and is called <\/span>Aeropuerto T4<\/strong>.
