Linguistics courses

Students majoring in Linguistics will, through the 4 Linguistics courses required for the major (CAS LX 250 Introduction to Linguistics, LX 301 Phonetics & Phonology, LX 321 Syntax, LX 331 Semantics & Pragmatics), satisfy 8 of the BU Hub requirements:

Spanish courses

Students are required to take CS LS 350 Introduction to Analysis of Hispanic Texts.

  • 1. Philosophical, Aesthetic, and Historical Consciosness:
    • Aesthetic exploration (LS 350)

Students are also required to take one 300-level Spanish language course, plus three additional Spanish literature classes, as well as an additional Spanish elective at or above the 300 level. Thus for the major, students could take one or two of the following, which satisfy some Hub requirements: CAS LS 306 Spanish through Translation, LS 307 Spanish through Literature and the Arts, LS 308 Spanish through Film and Medias, and LS 310 Spanish for the Professions.

  • 5. Communication:
    • Writing intensive (2 required) (LS 307)
    • Oral and/or signed communication (LS 306, 307, 308, 310)

Thus students in the Spanish & Linguistics major can receive up to 15 Hub credits for courses counting towards the major.
