The BU Libraries are celebrating\u202f<\/span>International Open Access Week<\/span><\/a>\u202f(October 20-26) by highlighting library services that support the global reach of scholarship produced at BU\u00a0and\u00a0the variety of works available in\u202f<\/span>BU\u2019s digital institutional repository<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To support the university\u2019s commitment to \u201cdisseminating the fruits of its research and scholarship as widely as possible\u201d as outlined in its open access policy<\/span><\/a>, the BU Libraries manages a\u202fdigital institutional repository\u202f<\/span>OpenBU<\/span><\/a>\u202f(open.bu.edu), available to all members of the university community.\u202fAs BU\u2019s digital institutional repository,\u00a0OpenBU\u00a0houses thousands of\u202farticles, chapters, theses and dissertations, presentations, datasets, media, and more\u2014all authored or co-authored by BU faculty, students, and staff. This repository enables BU researchers to share,\u00a0disseminate, and preserve their scholarship, and\u00a0makes\u00a0their research more accessible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OpenBU\u00a0currently holds\u00a049,485\u00a0items, and since its launch, there have been\u202f6,654,437\u00a0downloads and\u202f8,047,005 visits. Its\u202fcollections cover a wide array of topics, and materials from\u00a0numerous\u00a0BU colleges, schools, and departments can be found in the repository. The scope of the repository\u2019s materials is captured in\u00a0OpenBU\u2019s\u00a0most-viewed items of the past year:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
