{"id":103079,"date":"2019-02-28T14:48:11","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T19:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/?page_id=103079"},"modified":"2025-12-01T15:30:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T20:30:08","slug":"fines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/services\/circulation\/fines\/","title":{"rendered":"Fines"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Circulating Books<\/h2>\n<p>Overdue items are declared &#8220;Lost&#8221; 45 days after due date and incur the following charges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$100.00 replacement fee (or cost of the item, whichever is greater) charge per item.<\/li>\n<li>When a &#8220;Lost&#8221; item returned or found in the libraries, the replacement fee will be waived.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Reserve Items<\/h2>\n<p>The starting overdue fees for reserve items:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$2.00 per hour per item on 2 hour loans; $10.00 per day per item on 1 and 3 day loans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All overdue reserve items are declared &#8220;Lost&#8221; on the third day past due and incur the following charges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$150.00 replacement fee (or cost of the item, whichever is greater) charge per item.<\/li>\n<li>When a &#8220;Lost&#8221; item returned or found in the libraries, the replacement fee will be waived.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Recalled Items<\/h2>\n<p>Recalled Items are due seven days after the recall notice (or the original due date if that is sooner) and are declared overdue on the seventh day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$2.00 per day per item overdue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recalled items are declared &#8220;Lost&#8221; six days after due date and incur the following charges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$100.00 replacement fee (or cost of the item, whichever is greater) charge per item.<\/li>\n<li>When a &#8220;Lost&#8221; item returned or found in the libraries, the replacement fee will be waived.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why does my account still say the item is out?<\/h2>\n<p><span>If an item remains on your library account more than 24 hours after you returned it, contact the Libraries at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:ask@bu.edu\" class=\"ms-outlook-linkify\">ask@bu.edu<\/a> <span>or by visiting a service desk at one of our locations.
