Mark serves as University Librarian and manages a program portfolio including oversight of the Libraries physical and digital collections; its staff providing liaison and instructional services to the learning and research communities across BU’s Charles River Campus; its support for access to digital collections, digitized works, and digital scholarship held at BU and produced by BU scholars; as well as its core applications infrastructure supporting management, search & discovery, and circulation of library materials.

Prior to coming to BU, Mark served as a library unit director at Columbia University, where he led the reorganization of a division to integrate and align the library’s digital scholarship program with strategic priorities of Columbia’s campus, faculty, and student users by launching, leading, and collaborating on projects such as Digital Dante, Foundations for Research Computing, and Columbia Academic Commons.
