Now Streaming: Merchants of Doubt
The film Merchants of Doubt is part of the BU Libraries Academic Video Online database. It examines the process of determining scientific policy in the United States, and highlights how that process sometimes gets warped by lobbyists and pundits-for-hire.
Merchants of Doubt is of value to science educators who go on to teach, because our policies need to be evidence-based. The film exposes how some people present themselves as experts to the media, “yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.”
