Date: March 31, 2010 Today's Activity: Color changing milk and Chromatography Tie Dye Description: This week, we taught the girls about chromatography and what happens when soap, milk, and food coloring are mixed together. The first activity was named 'Color Changing Milk'. We put milk into tin containers and dropped different colors of food coloring into each container. The girls then had to guess what would happen if we touched the substance with just a plain q-tip and a q-tip with soap on the end of it. To say the least, the girls were amazed at their findings. The next activity involved the girls making their own tie dye handkerchiefs. They all got to choose from a variety of colors and made very interesting designs. They were very happy to bring something home to show their friends and family.
