Today's Activity: Introduction and How to make silly putty

Description: Today was our first session for the semester for Science Club for Girls. The girls from the Morse school were very excited to get the club started as were the mentors from BU and BU Academy.

After the girls had their snack, we started the session off with an icebreaker so that we could all get to know each other better. The girls had a lot of fun with this activity.

Next, we jumped right into the day's activities. The girls learned about polymers today and we performed an experiment that showcased this. We used Borax and other key ingredients to make silly putty which is a very fun polymer! After the girls made the silly putty, we added food coloring to make it more interesting to work with.

We also had the pleasure of having a junior mentor help us out today. She was very helpful and we look forward to working with her in the future.

Looking forward to next week!
