A leading expert in labor and employment law, his scholarship examines the failure of the state to effectively regulate low-wage workplaces and the efforts of worker movements to generate new legal frameworks to protect workers\u2019 rights and reduce bargaining power inequality. Professor Elmore\u2019s scholarship has been published or is forthcoming in the\u202f<em>California Law Review<\/em>, <em>Southern California Law Review<\/em>, <em>George Washington Law Review<\/em>, <em>UC Davis Law Review<\/em>, <em>Indiana Law Journal<\/em>, <i>William &amp; Mary Law Review<\/i>, and <em>University of Pennsylvania Law Review Online<\/em>, among others. <span>Professor Elmore serves as the Chair of the Association of American Law School\u2019s Section on Labor Relations and Employment Law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Professor Elmore joined BU Law from the University of Miami School of Law, where he taught labor law, employment law, and tort law beginning in 2018. Elmore entered the academy as an acting assistant professor of lawyering at New York University School of Law. Prior to joining academia, Professor Elmore was a practitioner for over a decade, beginning <span>at the Legal Aid Society in New York City<\/span>, where he developed an employment law practice representing immigrant, low-wage workers. Later, as a section chief in the New York Office of the Attorney General, he led and supervised investigations of systemic violations of employment and employment discrimination laws.<\/p>\n<p>Elmore clerked for Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, Order of the Coif, where he served as an editor of the UCLA Law Review and graduated with a concentration in public interest law and policy. Elmore began work as a researcher, organizer, and advocate in unions and community and labor policy organizations, which he continued through law school.
