Muir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Associate Dean for Academic Engagement Geraldine \u201cGerry\u201d Muir facilitates a dynamic, equitable and challenging academic experience for all JD students through academic advising, assessment, and her partnerships with Academic Enrichment, the Law Registrar, faculty and other administrators at BU Law. Prior to joining the School\u2019s administration, Dean Muir served as a Higher Education Associate at Dow Lohnes PLLC and Cooley LLP in Washington, DC, advising institutional clients on matters of federal financial aid compliance, accreditation standards and state licensure. She started her career as an advocate for academically gifted students of color through A Better Chance Foundation; transitioned into higher education administration; followed by law practice for several years; and, then she married all these experiences together in her work at BU Law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a higher education administrator Dean Muir has served in residence life, student conduct, student activities, multicultural affairs, and orientation positions, and attained a MS degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts\u00a0degree from Syracuse University, where she studied Television, Radio, Film Production and Sociology, and she earned her Juris Doctorate\u00a0from Georgetown University. Dean Muir has been recognized for outstanding service to her communities through the Dean\u2019s Certificate from Georgetown University; the King, Heschel and Hamer Spirituality and Social Justice Award from Drew University; the National Leader of Leaders Award from Campus Outreach Opportunity League ; The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Excellence from Canisius College; and the District of Columbia Courts\u2019 Capital Pro Bono Honor Role.\u00a0In April 2017, Boston University\u2019s Black Law Student Association awarded Dean Muir the Student Choice Award for outstanding dedication to BU Law\u2019s students, and in 2021 she was recognized with the Gerard H. Cohen Award, for her \u201cunselfish and distinguished service to the School of Law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dean Muir is also an adjunct lecturer for the\u00a0BU Wheelock College of Education &amp; Human Development\u2019s Educational Leadership &amp; Policies Studies program, teaching\u00a0<strong>AP 755:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Legal Issues in Higher Education<\/em>\u00a0via classroom\u00a0and distance education.
