David H. Webber<\/b>\u00a0is the author of the critically-acclaimed book, The Rise of the Working-Class Shareholder: Labor\u2019s Last Best Weapon<\/a><\/i>, published by Harvard University Press.\u00a0The book argues that labor has a massive untapped source of shareholder power in its trillions of dollars in pension assets.\u00a0Webber toured extensively<\/a>\u00a0for it and published related op-eds in the New York Times<\/a>, <\/i>the Washington Post<\/a><\/i>, the\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0<\/i>and elsewhere. <\/i>The book was reviewed or otherwise covered in the New York Review of Books<\/a><\/i>, the Financial Times<\/a>, Publisher\u2019s Weekly<\/a><\/i>, Bloomberg Radio<\/a>, CSPAN\u2019s BookTV<\/a>, Forbes<\/a><\/i>, the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation<\/a>, the Harvard <\/a>OnLabor<\/a><\/i>\u00a0blog<\/a>, Cornell University\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0ILR Review<\/a><\/i>, Rorotoko<\/a>, de Volkskrant<\/a>, Calcalist<\/a>, Splinter News<\/a>, The National Review<\/a>\u00a0and Dissent<\/a><\/i>. It was recently published in Korean<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Webber was identified as one of the Top 100 Legal Scholars<\/a> by citations. <\/span>Webber’s most recent publications have appeared in the Harvard Business Law Review<\/i>, the University of Chicago Business Law Review<\/i>, the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Law and Business, <\/i>and the Stanford Journal of Law, Economics and Business.<\/i> His work has twice been recognized by Corporate Practice Commentator, a national survey of law scholars, as one of the top ten corporate and securities law articles of the year.<\/a><\/p>\n

The BU Law Class of 2023 voted him the Mark Pettit Teaching Award winner. He won the Dean\u2019s award for excellence in teaching the same year, and\u00a0the Michael Melton Award for Teaching Excellence in 2017. He co-teaches the Pensions and Capital Stewardship course for the Harvard Trade Union program at Harvard Law School, where he also spent Spring 2024 as a fellow for the Center for Labor and A Just Economy. He has served as Visiting Chair in Business Law at Tel Aviv University Law School and has taught at Reichman University and Boston College Law School. Webber is a graduate of Columbia and NYU Law School, where he was an editor for the law review. He is currently pursuing rabbinic ordination at the Shalom Hartman Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n
