{"id":90208,"date":"2022-05-20T08:28:55","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T12:28:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/?page_id=90208"},"modified":"2025-08-12T12:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T16:16:12","slug":"access-to-other-libraries","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/libraries\/using-the-library\/access-to-other-libraries\/","title":{"rendered":"Access to Other Libraries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Boston University faculty, students, and staff also enjoy access to libraries across campus, the city of Boston, and beyond, with specific research needs.<\/p>\n<h2>Boston University<\/h2>\n<p>As part of OneBU, BU students, faculty, staff and alumni enjoy access and borrowing privileges at all Boston University Libraries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/\">Mugar Memorial Library<\/a>, the primary library for study and research at Boston University, is located next to the Law School in the George Sherman Union. The following branch libraries are also available to students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/african-studies\/\">African Studies Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/astronomy\/\">Astronomy Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/archives.bu.edu\/\">Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/music\/\">Music Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/management\/\">Pardee Management Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/pickering-educational\/\">Pickering Educational Resources Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/sel\/\">Science &amp; Engineering Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/stone-science\/\">Stone Science Library<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sthlibrary\/\">Theology Library<\/a> is located adjacent to Marsh Chapel on the west side of the courtyard. The library entrance is on the second floor of the School of Theology.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/medlib.bu.edu\/\">Alumni Medical Library<\/a> is located at 80 East Concord Street on the Medical Campus.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Boston Academic Law Libraries<\/h2>\n<p>Boston University School of Law students, faculty, and staff with specific research needs can often visit other area law libraries, with a referral letter from a B.U. Law Librarian detailing their specific research need. This would include if you need access to a material outside the B.U. Law Libraries collections more urgently that we can obtain through interlibrary loan or the library in question has a unique material which can only be accessed on-site. Please contact our legal information librarians at <a href=\"mailto:lawlib@bu.edu\">lawlib@bu.edu<\/a> to discuss your research need.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Libraries<\/h2>\n<p>The Law Library and Boston University belong to a number of consortia in Boston and beyond. Through these consortia, you can visit member libraries and use materials on-site, as needed. Current law students can:<\/p>\n<ul><!--\n \t\n\n<li>Use their Terrier Card to visit and borrow library materials in-person from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandeis.edu\/library\/\">Brandeis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/library.bc.edu\">Boston College<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/library.northeastern.edu\">Northeastern University<\/a> just as you would at Boston University.<\/li>\n\n\n--><\/p>\n<li>Obtain a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/library\/services\/ill\/blc-cards\/\">Boston Library Consortium (BLC) card<\/a> to borrow circulating materials or visit and use non-circulating materials at <a href=\"https:\/\/blc.org\/members\">BLC member libraries<\/a>, located throughout the greater Boston area.<\/li>\n<li>Visit or use materials on-site at many of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nellco.org\/search\/newsearch.asp\">NELLCO Law Library Consortium member libraries<\/a>, located throughout greater New England and beyond, as long as access is arranged in advance.
