The 1870s.<\/h4>\n<p>Since our founding in 1872, Boston University School of Law has offered legal education to all highly accomplished students without regard to race, gender, or religion. In fact, we were one of the first to do so long before most schools\u2014which is why many of our students have gone on to become \u201cfirsts\u201d in their fields.<\/p>\n<p>BU Law&#8217;s commitment to a diverse student body begins well before you arrive on campus and extends far beyond graduation. You&#8217;ll find a well-developed system of support and mentorship to help you through your time in law school.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Our Administrators<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Dean Onwuachi-Willig holds regular town halls, office hours, and other informal get-togethers as a platform for your voice.\u00a0The Associate Dean for Equity, Justice &amp; Engagement facilitates faculty hiring and trainings aligned with our institutional values for equitable educational experiences.\u00a0The very accessible\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/about\/offices\/student-affairs-and-academic-enrichment\/\">Student Affairs Office<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/academics\/academic-enrichment\/\">Academic Enrichment Program<\/a> offer numerous resources, both academic and personal, to support law students. And BU Law\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/profile\/amber-r-woods\/\">Associate Director of Equity, Inclusion &amp; Engagement,<\/a> is dedicated to cultivating a community that welcomes diverse individuals and a wide range of beliefs, ideas, and opinions.<\/p>\n<h4>Programming and Curriculum<\/h4>\n<p>BU Law also regularly holds programming designed to engage with pressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. For example, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/about\/lecture-series\/\">Barbara Jordan Lecture Series<\/a> provides lectures, panels, and events on issues of social justice and diversity. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/2019\/09\/25\/in-real-law\/\">In Real Law (IRL)<\/a> program, connects first generation law students and law students of color to a diverse group of highly successful attorneys practicing in Boston.
