{"id":1473,"date":"2015-07-01T11:44:38","date_gmt":"2015-07-01T15:44:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/?page_id=1473"},"modified":"2026-06-15T09:56:03","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T13:56:03","slug":"degree-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/about\/offices\/graduate-international-programs\/intellectual-property-law\/degree-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"LLM in Intellectual Property &#038; Information Law Courses and Degree Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Requirements for the Degree<\/h2>\n<p>To qualify for the degree of Master of Laws in Intellectual Property &amp; Information Law, a candidate must satisfy the following requirements:<\/p>\n<h3>Credit Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete not less than 24 credits in courses taken in the LLM in Intellectual Property &amp; Information Law Program (the Program) curriculum or elsewhere if approved as provided in these regulations<\/li>\n<li>Enroll in at least 12 credit hours in each semester<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Academic Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>All LLM in Intellectual Property and Information Law students must complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/academics\/find-degrees-and-programs\/masters-llm-programs\/intellectual-property-law\/courses-of-study\/\">following required courses<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Complete each course for which he or she is registered, including any additional courses beyond the required 24 credits, unless the course has been dropped as provided in these regulations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Grade Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Achieve a passing grade in all required courses<\/li>\n<li>Receive not more than one grade below C in elective classes<\/li>\n<li>Upon completing 24 or more credits, have a final weighted cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.3 or better<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Timing Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete all requirements in the same academic year that he\/she begins the Program.
