She was an internationally recognized authority on mega-project management and infrastructure development. In addition to her work on the more than $14 billion Big Dig\u2014which relocated major interstate highways underneath Boston and included construction of the Ted Williams Tunnel, the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway\u2014she advised on London\u2019s Crossrail project and other mega projects in India, Africa, and Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGinny brought a wealth of expertise to our students,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/profile\/angela-onwuachi-willig\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Angela Onwuachi-Willig<\/a>, BU Law\u2019s Dean and Ryan Roth Gallo Professor of Law. \u201cGinny forever changed the landscape of Boston through her role as deputy chief counsel and risk manager for the Big Dig. Her work was truly remarkable, and she was a remarkable woman and lawyer. We are grateful to have learned from Ginny, and we will miss her presence in and the deep impact she made on our community at BU Law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greiman joined BU Law as a lecturer in 2003, having previously taught at Georgetown University Law Center, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Oxford University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At BU Law, her courses included International Business Agreements and International Project Finance. At the Metropolitan College, she was an instructor in the school\u2019s project management core curriculum, teaching classes such as Portfolio and Program Management, and Business Law and Regulation in a Global Environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGinny contributed great depth to the development of MET\u2019s project management graduate programs,\u201d said MET Dean <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/profile\/tanya-zlateva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tanya Zlateva<\/a>. \u201cShe believed that to be an effective teacher, you had to excite the students and share the passion you had for the subject. In that role, she managed successful reorganizations including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Archives\/1988\/08\/11\/Questions-raised-about-bankruptcy-lawyer-fees\/5832587275200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant in New Hampshire<\/a>. She also worked as general counsel for Boston\u2019s then-Department of Banking and Insurance and the city\u2019s Executive Office of Education. From 1995 to 2000, she was international legal counsel to the US Department of State, the US Agency for International Development, the US Trade and Development Agency, and the World Bank, among other international entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On campus, she was a valued teacher and colleague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGinny had a heart for students as well as an entrepreneurial spirit on scholarship,\u201d says BU Law\u2019s Austin B. Fletcher Professor of Law <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/law\/profile\/kevin-outterson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kevin Outterson<\/a>, executive director of CARB-X. \u201cShe reached out to me within months of my arrival here and helped me to globalize my teaching and scholarship. Never heard an unkind word from Ginny.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greiman completed her undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University before obtaining a master of education from Boston University in 1970. She earned her JD from Suffolk Law School and, in 2003, returned to BU to earn her LLM in taxation at BU Law. A certified Project Management Professional, she published and lectured extensively on international law, economic development, project management and finance, and international business finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She authored several books, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wiley.com\/en-us\/Megaproject+Management%3A+Lessons+on+Risk+and+Project+Management+from+the+Big+Dig-p-9781118115473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Mega Project Management: Lessons on Risk and Project Management from the Big Dig<\/em><\/a> in 2013. The nearly 500-page resource describes day-to-day management of the project based on her experiences as deputy chief legal counsel and risk manager between 1998 and 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She brought those experiences to the classroom as well, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/met\/files\/2020\/09\/bu-met-newsletter_winter_2012.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">telling <em>Metropolitan<\/em> magazine in 2012<\/a>, \u201cI want to make sure our students are well trained to manage difficult decisions when faced with projects.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-end-of-article\">Greiman was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wickedlocal.com\/story\/wellesley-townsman\/2016\/07\/26\/wellesley-resident-gop-veteran-reflects\/27353784007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">district-level delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention for Massachusetts<\/a>. She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/massgop\/posts\/we-are-deeply-saddened-to-learn-of-ginny-greimans-passing-on-friday-morning-at-m\/1122327265923515\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">served as an executive member<\/a> of the Wellesley Republican Town Committee and as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/massgop\/posts\/we-are-deeply-saddened-to-learn-of-ginny-greimans-passing-on-friday-morning-at-m\/1122327265923515\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vice chair of the Massachusetts Lawyers for Trump<\/a> group.
