Three alums join prominent attorneys, judges, and legal educators.
Three BU Law alumni have been named among the 2017 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America, the publication’s annual list of the top names in the legal profession.
These attorneys join US Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor, as well as other prominent private practitioners in corporate and plaintiff law firms, in-house counsel, law school professors, government attorneys, judges, and nonprofit and public interest attorneys.

Philip Beck (’76) is a partner at Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP in Chicago. He is widely recognized as one of the leading courtroom lawyers (both trial and appellate) in the United States. Although he primarily represents businesses, he has handled several other types of high profile cases such as Bush v. Gore, where Beck headed George W. Bush’s trial team in the Florida recount litigation in the 2000 presidential election. Beck has a broad business litigation practice with particular emphasis on mass tort/product liability, intellectual property, commercial and financial cases.
Josh Krevitt (’92), a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in New York, and a member of the Gibson Dunn’s executive committee, focuses on intellectual property, litigation, chiefly patent litigation, and complex commercial litigation. He has represented some of the leading technology companies in the world including AT&T, Sharp, EMC, Microsoft, Viacom, and Amazon.com in intellectual property matters. He is consistently ranked as one of the leading intellectual property and patent litigators by The Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 US, Benchmark Litigation, Chambers Global, and Chambers USA.
Jane Michaels (’93) is chair and partner of Holland & Hart’s trial practice, where she handles cases of trademark, trade secrets, patents, and copyright cases. She has won several complex jury trial cases in business disputes, and advises clients across multiple platforms like telecommunications, biotech, medical, internet, and publishing. She has been recognized in Benchmark Litigation from 2012 to 2017. She has also been ranked in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Who’s Who in American Law and several other publications.
The Lawdragon 500 are selected from a combination of editorial research by Lawdragon staff, submissions from law firms, and an online ballot that allows site visitors to vote. Winners are recognized on the website and in Lawdragon magazine.
