His research focuses <span>particularly on the prehispanic civilizations of central Mexico. Currently ongoing projects at the ancient city of Teotihuacan include the Proyecto Arqueol\u00f3gico Tlajinga, Teotihuacan (PATT), and the Proyecto Plaza de las Columnas. The first seeks to understand urbanization, neighborhood organization, and the daily life of commoners through excavations and geophysical prospection within a southern district of the city. The second is focused on a palace compounds and is aimed at understanding the city\u2019s political economy. <\/span>His recent book<span>\u00a0<\/span><i>Collision of Worlds: A Deep History of the Fall of Aztec Mexico and the Forging of New Spain<\/i><span>\u00a0<\/span>is a deep history based on<span>\u00a0the confrontation between Spanish and Indigenous populations in Mesoamerica in the mid-1500s, with particular attention to a layered history of\u00a0Cholula, Mexico, and Medell\u00edn, Spain.
