Submissions are limited to one per student.<\/p>\n<p>Acceptable submissions include short written essays, narrative non-fiction, creative writing (short stories, short plays, poems), videos, physical artworks (paintings or sculptures), original music, multi-media art projects; collections of interviews, photo essays, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The project may build on work produced for a class.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Deadline<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 2021<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Topics &amp; Submission Guidelines<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Projects should address one or more of the interrelated crises of COVID-19, democracy\/inclusion, immigration, and race in Latin America and the Caribbean as viewed from regional and global perspectives. We also welcome Latinx topics, particularly those exploring the question: What does it mean in 2020 to self-identify as Latinx?<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for projects that invite reflection on current crises and inspire positive change.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions in English, Spanish, Portuguese or any other language spoken in the Americas are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Written contributions should not exceed 3000 words. Videos should not exceed 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Judging<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A committee of core faculty members in the Latin American Studies will select the winners.<\/p>\n<p>The award will be based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artistic merit<\/li>\n<li>Originality<\/li>\n<li>Social impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winner will be announced within four weeks of the <strong>APRIL 30, 2021 <\/strong>deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions should be emailed to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:edamrien@bu.edu\">Elizabeth Amrien<\/a> (digital photographs of physical artwork should be submitted).
