Pineda, Associate Professor of Spanish in the Romance Studies Department in the college of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed as the new director of the Latin American Studies Program, one of the four regional studies programs offered by the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. Professor Pineda succeeds Professor James Iffland, Professor of Spanish in the Romance Studies Department, in this role. Professor Pineda&#8217;s appointment is for 2015-2018 academic years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span>Professor Pineda&#8217;s research focuses on Professor Pineda\u2019s research interests focus on nineteenth- and twentieth-century Spanish American literature, culture, and film and on the relationship between politics and culture. \u00a0She is the author of\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hispanic.pitt.edu\/iili\/geopoliticas.html\"><em>Geopol\u00edticas de la cultura finisecular en Buenos Aires, Par\u00eds y M\u00e9xico: las revistas literarias y el modernismo<\/em><\/a><span>, a book on the transatlantic literary practices of\u00a0<\/span><em>modernista<\/em><span>\u00a0authors.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more on Professor Pineda&#8217;s appointment <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2015\/06\/01\/adela-pineda-latin-america-studies\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adela E.
