\"\"Ana Mar\u00eda Reyes is an Associate Professor of Latin American Art History and\u00a0<\/span>Director of the Center for Latin American Studies, BU Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/a>. She is also Affiliated Researcher, David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University and founding member of the\u00a0<\/span>Symbolic Reparations Research Project<\/a>. Her book\u00a0<\/span>The Politics of Taste: Beatriz Gonz\u00e1lez and Cold War Aesthetics<\/em>\u00a0(Duke University Press, 2019) studies symbolic violence in the context of Cold War aesthetic and modernization discourses. She co-edited with Maureen Shanahan\u00a0<\/span>Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar: Travels and Transformations of a Cultural Icon<\/em>\u00a0(University Press of Florida, 2016) on cultural bolivarianisms as a case for the arts and humanities in democratic thinking. She is currently working on a second monograph,\u00a0<\/span>To Weave and Repair: Symbolic Reparations in Colombia\u2019s Peace Process<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robert Trottier <\/strong>[LinkedIn<\/a>] joined the Center for Latin American Studies as Communications Assistant in February 2026. He is a first-year Master\u2019s candidate in International Affairs at Boston University\u2019s Pardee School of Global Studies, specializing in Diplomacy. Robert comes to this role with a strong academic foundation in global politics and policy analysis, as well as hands-on experience in international research and institutional engagement.<\/p>\n

Before joining BU, Robert completed an undergraduate double honours degree in Politics & International Relations and Criminology at the University of Western Ontario. His research has taken him to Ethiopia, where he conducted fieldwork on global market access, trade, and development in collaboration with high-ranking officials from the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Canadian Embassy, and the European Union.<\/p>\n

At the Center, Robert aims to help streamline collaborations between students and the Center\u2019s leadership, while supporting the efficiency and academic initiatives that advance its mission.<\/p>\n
