Dr. Daniel Sheehan is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering. The building opened in early 2017 and houses a cohort of neuroscience and biological design research teams and centers, including <\/span>the Biological Design Center<\/a>, the Center for Systems Neuroscience<\/a>, the Cognitive Neuroimaging Center<\/a>, and the Neurophotonics Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As director of operations, h<\/span>e helps support research and center initiatives,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>coordinates new laboratory setup and installation, manages<\/span>\u00a0facilities and maintenance requests, and <\/span>oversees events and community engagement within the Kilachand Center.<\/span>\u00a0In addition,\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Sheehan ensures smooth collaborations between the interdisciplinary faculty researchers, participating postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, research support staff, and BU central administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to Dr. Sheehan joining the Kilachand Center team in January 2023, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Computational Neurophysiology led\u00a0by Dr. Michael Hasselmo, utilizing in-vivo techniques to study navigation and memory processes in rodent\u00a0models. He earned his BA in Psychology from San Diego State University, his master’s from BU\u2019s Graduate Program in Psychology, and his PhD from the Brain, Behavior & Cognition program at Boston University.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brian\u2019s career is defined by high-stakes environments\u2014from the intensity of courtroom litigation in Venezuela to the precision-focused laboratories of the Rajen Kilachand Center. As a Client Technology Analyst at Boston University, he leverages a multifaceted background in programming, ‘vibe coding,’ and Linux systems, alongside expertise in macOS scripting and leadership experience from his tenure at Apple.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brian brings a singular perspective to the IT landscape, having spent a decade as both a professor and practitioner of law, representing major organizations across the private and public sectors. Now a Boston local, he translates that same analytical rigor into solving complex infrastructure challenges. Off-clock, Brian remains a seeker of deep narratives and technical mastery; he finds inspiration in the atmospheric intensity of metal music, the psychological depth of horror cinema, and the solitary endurance of long-distance cycling.<\/p>\n
