You must check-in to earn co-curricular attendance credit for this event.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>About Allegra Goodman<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span>Allegra Goodman\u2019s novels include\u00a0<\/span><em>The Chalk Artist<\/em><span>\u00a0(winner of the Massachusetts Book Award),\u00a0<\/span><em>Intuition, The Cookbook Collector, Paradise Park,<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>and<\/span><em><span>\u00a0<\/span>Kaaterskill Falls<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>(a National Book Award finalist)<\/span><em>.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>Her fiction has appeared in\u00a0<\/span><em>The New Yorker, Commentary<\/em><span>, and\u00a0<\/span><em>Ploughshares<\/em><span>\u00a0and has been anthologized in\u00a0<\/span><em>The O. Henry Awards<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>and\u00a0<\/span><em>Best American Short Stories.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>She has written two collections of short stories,\u00a0<\/span><em>The Family Markowitz<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>and\u00a0<\/span><em>Total Immersion<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>and a novel for younger readers,\u00a0<\/span><em>The Other Side of the Island.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>Her essays and reviews have appeared in\u00a0<\/span><em>The New York Times Book Review, The Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, The Boston Globe,<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>and\u00a0<\/span><em>The American Scholar.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>Raised in Honolulu, Goodman studied English and philosophy at Harvard and received a PhD in English literature from Stanford. She is the recipient of a Whiting Writer\u2019s Award, the Salon Award for Fiction, and a fellowship from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced study.
